The lead paragraph has this:

"After killing most of their victims in the school's library, they died by self-inflicted gunshot wounds."

They very much did die of self-inflicted gunshot wounds, but (maybe being pedantic) this seems an odd way to phrase it - it's like they already had the gunshot wounds before the shooting, and died of them afterwards. Or that they shot themselves on accident. The article for the Columbine massacre itself has it as:

"Ten of the twelve students killed were in the school library, where Harris and Klebold subsequently died by suicide."

My request is to change the sentence (in bold) of the lead paragraph to "they died by suicide", "they committed suicide" or any variation, or if we're being more specific "they committed suicide by shooting themselves" (as precedent, for an article where the last of these is the phrasing, see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockton_schoolyard_shooting)

CURRENT: Harris and Klebold have become pop culture icons, with the pair often portrayed, referenced and seen in film, television, video games, music and books. Many killers since the shooting have taken inspiration from the pair (dubbed the Columbine effect), either hailing them as heroes or expressing sympathy for them. Harris and Klebold also have a fanbase, who have coined the term "Columbiners", who write fan fiction and draw fan art of them. Others have also dressed as the duo for cosplay or Halloween.[11]

NEW: Harris and Klebold are reminders of sad pathetic, lost kids, who through their cowardly actions have harmed others. 2600:4040:A5BC:A100:39A9:1D0C:ADE9:3768 (talk) 23:53, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
