Delinking dates on your user page

[edit]

Shouldn't the dates be delinked on your user page in the Milestones in Edit Count section as per mosnum?--PremKudvaTalk 03:41, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings - thanks for your message!
As you may know, MOSNUM previously recommended that they be linked. Given that opinion swayed from one way to the other, I am anticipating it may swing back the other way. Hence, I am not investing time to go change all the dates. Cheers, Johntex\talk 14:26, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Texas Longhorns

[edit]

Hi John, just to give you a heads up, as you seem to be the primary contributor to the series of articles, I plan on going ahead with the move of the Texas Longhorns football seasons articles to the plural form. You didn't seem to feel too strongly one way or the other on the talk page. I think the move is important because it keeps consistency across the Wikiproject College football's articles. I'll leave a redirect from the singular.

By the way, outstanding job on those UT team articles. You've set the standard for those of us who work on cfb team articles.

Strikehold (talk) 17:35, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Strikehold, thanks for the heads-up about the page moves. I appreciate the courtesy even though of course I don't own the articles. It is always nice when someone takes the time to not only discuss their proposal, as you did on the Talk page, but also to notify the major contributor(s) as well.
Thanks for the compliment also. I think they are in pretty good shape overall, though of course I know they have some room for improvement always. The 2007 article may be close to FA quality. I was working it up in the off-season but I ran out of time when the new season started.
Is there a bot yet to fix all the articles to keep them from pointing to the redirects, or do we still have to do that manually? That work is rather tedious, but it should really be done if we are moving the pages. Best, Johntex\talk 19:40, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I miss your edits to the Texas Longhorns football season page. So far we just have a skeleton page for 2011. - Bevo (talk) 18:09, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

==Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Texas Flag at DKR - North Texas vs Texas 2006.jpg==

Thank you for uploading Image:Texas Flag at DKR - North Texas vs Texas 2006.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 06:02, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Comment on College Football logos

[edit]

Users opposing the use of College Football team logos being used in articles through out the College Football project have filed a Request for Comment trying to ban use of team logos. As I am sure you know our current standard/system of using logos legitimately with fair use rationales do not violate any wikipedia policy. It would be appreciated if you could take a moment and voice you opinion on the subject here: RFC: Use of logos on sports team pages. Proposed deletion of Kelby Shults alleged harrasement incident

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kelby Shults alleged harrasement incident, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

There is no good reason to keep this account of an unproven allegation against a school student.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Sir, I need your Help over this issue, As per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mason Moore for Mason Moore , the reason stated "No significant coverage" and non compliance with WP:PORNBIO, but i would like to express my view over the issue, That i had gone through the Actress profile well, Though she is new to this genre, but still She has been covered significant under what exactly we call for Porn actress, she is not an actress from Hollywood, so we might call for significant status for her. As stated in WP:PORNBIO, Though she had not won a well-known award, such as those listed in Category:Pornographic film awards or Category:Film awards. but she had been covered & nominated in AVN Awards like that of AVN Hall of Fame. & she had contributed a lot in Porn Industry at such a little time. Well the aforementioned details are formalised, & the informal one is that, i am new to wikipedia, & would to like contribute for my lifetime, so i am looking for your positive response over this issue, Please assist me. The photos have by Infofreak been shown to be pornographic and exhibitionist, and I agree. Not only that while there is the possibility them being put back it is more difficult to get consensus on the video. It is just starting to hit me why this is so difficult. If the pics go we can move toward consensus on the video. Info has said he would delete them, but Atom is still questioning why here. It is proven that the same person who uploaded them has similar stuff on a pay-per-view porn site. Whoever this guy is he is getting mileage out of having them here. They need to go, and from WP Commons too if possible.

Kind Regards

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Pearl necklace (sexuality). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pearl necklace (sexuality) (4th nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stockings

[edit]

I know this goes back a few years, but when you created File:Fishnet stockings from below.jpg, how did you determine they were stockings and not some other form of hosiery? The source does not appear to say either way. --Juventas (talk) 23:22, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You replied that they're tagged on Flickr as stockings. I'm probably being dense, but the tags I see on Flickr are "legsproject, legs, fencenets (not fishnets), orange tutu, NSFWWISNTT, tutu, top-v555, leg". If the author has tagged them as "fishnet stockings", that would be good information. --Juventas (talk) 01:57, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-Free content usage

[edit]

There is an issue involving non-free content usage on the US Presidents on US postage stamps discussion page. As you are an administrator with a lot of dealings in non-free content disputes I am hoping you can weigh in on a matter. I created the US Presidents on US postage stamps page back in June of 2010. Most of the page's images are of postage stamps issued before 1978, in the public domain, that depict US presidents, however stamps issued after 1978 are not in the public domain and any images must be used under non-free content guide lines. The page has 17 NFC images, each image used in reference to a different topic/president. As the page subject is about presidential stamps, each image is necessary and is so defined in fair-use rationale. -- A day ago (Jan.11) I was told by a user:hammersoft that the article has too many NFC images and he referred me to Non-free image use policy, items 3 and 8. This wiki'reference speaks about multiple NFC images used for one topic. This reference also doesn't speak of an overall flat limit on NFC images, but instead speaks of conditions regarding their usage. In any case, this sort of gets into a gray area. There is a discussion already underway on the page linked to. Any advice and consensus you can offer would be most appreciated here. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 22:28, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Texan Collaboration Notice

[edit]

The Texan Collaboration Notice on the main page of WikiProject Texas has apparently been directed to Marshall, Texas since 2007. It has been my impression, based on the talk page and absence of certain editors, that the Texas project has not been really active in quite some time. Maybe individuals are working on Texas pages. But as a project, nothing looks like it's happened for a while. Given that, I wonder if it serves any purpose to have that outdated Collaboration Notice template on the main page of the Project. Hello. This is TheOneQ and I have a small request in regards to getting pornography pages posted on Wikipedia. I see you are an administrator and work with the WikiProject Pornography group and would like your advice/opinion.

I have tried to get several pages posted on certain pornstars/movies, but they keep getting rejected. To my knowledge, I am following the verifiability and notability requirements for these performers, but they keep getting rejected.

For example, I recently attempted to write a page on the gay pornstar Spencer Reed. He is regarded in the industry as one of its fastest rising stars and he has notability to prove his placement on Wikipedia by way of his numerous award nominations and wins.

XBIZ, the industry leader on news and information related to pornography, awarded him the Gay Performer of the Year, 2011. In addition, he has been nominated for several GayVN Awards, honoring the best in gay pornography. GayVN is part of AVN, a trade magazine also recognized in the industry as a reputable source.

My listing included four sources. Two of them were from XBIZ: one showing a listing of the 2011 award winners and the other a profile feature written on him and published in their magazine. Another source was from AVN and showed a listing for the awards he was nominated for. The final source was from IAFD (Internet Adult Film Database), showing a breakdown of all of Spencer's official appearances. I also want to note that AVN, XBIZ and IAFD are all listed in the WikiProject Pornography page as "Useful Links"

Despite only citing reputable sources within the field and (to my understanding of it) showing notability, the page was still rejected. The notice stated, "We're sorry, but we cannot accept unsourced suggestions or sources that are not reliable per the verifiability policy."

I don't want to this opening message to be too long, but any help you can provide to get this page and others posted would be greatly appreciated. I want to follow everything necessary for publication. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheOneQ (talkcontribs) 15:31, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Wiki Medicine

[edit]

Hi

I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new multinational non-profit organization we're forming at m:Wikimedia Medicine. Even if you don't want to be actively involved, any ideas you may have about our structure and aims would be very welcome on the project's talk page.

Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.

Hope to see you there! --Anthonyhcole (talk) 08:21, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

attribution for photographs

[edit]

Hi Johntex, This is probably not the right forum for this conversation, but I wasn't sure how else to contact you.

I am interested in using a photo you took, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pink_knitting_in_front_of_pink_sweatshirt.JPG,

on our library website, http://www.ilsleypubliclibrary.org/event/advanced-beginners-knitting-group/2012-11-19/ But I am a little unclear on what the proper attribution is for this and other creative commons photos. Does this look okay to you?

You can reach me at info@ilsleypubliclibrary.org

Notice of change

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of BioTronics

[edit]

The article BioTronics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I can find no record of this company's existence on the web. There was a postcard page, found in the Wayback machine, in 2008 under amplisensor.com, with only a home page. Most of the concrete information in this article suggests that this company is at best a failure and possibly a scam. There are other more established companies named BioTronics in the US, an instrumentation company in Pittsburgh and an ag company in Iowa. Accugen, its other ID, is also a more established company elsewhere in the US. AmpliSensor is the name of another product produced by a German company. The article's Biotronics supposed address, 50 Stedman in Lowell, MA, does not even exist on Google Maps. (Addresses go 44-46-48-54 there.)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The article BioTronics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An unremarkable company; significant RS coverage not found. What comes up are passing mentions or PR-driven -- insufficient to meet WP:CORPDEPTH.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Nomination of BioTronics for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article BioTronics is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/BioTronics until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. K.e.coffman (talk) 23:40, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
