Charlie or Charley?
[edit]The album cover says Charley but the article uses Charlie and redirects from Charley, WUWT? Is it a UK thing?

Guitar
[edit]1. He goes by Charlie, at least now. That's how he signed his autograph for me on August 17,2007.
2. The article doesn't mention he plays guitar as well.
Clearly, he's more famous as a harp player, but he has a fairly recent solo CD out with him playing guitar and harp in a rack.
3. For what it's worth, he seems to be a very friendly, funny, down-to-earth guy. He sat down with a group of us for an hour's worth of Q and A, and it was a lot of fun.

Choctaw or Cherokee
[edit]If he's really Cherokee, where did the Choctaw claim originally come from? Badagnani 21:56, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Thai heritage?
[edit]In this edit, an anonymous editor added that Musselwhite is of Thai heritage. I don't believe this is accurate. Badagnani (talk) 20:45, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've read this before. I've long since forgotten exactly where, however. My best recollection was that it appeared either in one of the MusicHound guides or in the liner notes to one of his albums, possibly a compilation album released by Alligator. unsourced
[edit]"Unfortunately, Musselwhite, as with many of his peers, fell into alcoholism, and by his own admission[citation needed], he had never been on stage sober until after he stopped drinking entirely in 1987."
removed this from article. dont return it until a source is found. the word "unfortunately" can be taken out regardless.50.193.19.66 (talk) 19:50, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
The Blind Boys of Alabama album reference
[edit]There's a linked reference to "Spirit of the Century" accredited to The Blind Boys of Alabama. The link goes to the page of a role playing game by the same name. It seems an unlikely pairing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_of_the_Century There is a album of the same name in The Blind Boys of Alabama discography, but there is no associated page for it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blind_Boys_of_Alabama#Discography — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fbonds (talk • contribs) 15:29, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Relationship to Osage tribe of Oklahoma
[edit]Perhaps, in reference to his role in Killers of the Flower Moon, a mention of the fact that Charlie Musselwhite apparently had ancestors who lived in Osage County, Oklahoma, and that apparently his aunt, an Osage woman named Mary DeNoya, is buried in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, should be added to this article. I don't know why, if he's partly Osage, Musselwhite has for so long claimed to be of Choctaw, then Cherokee heritage, but never Osage.
