Hi, I'm Joe. I mainly work on articles about archaeology and biographies of scientists. I'm also an administrator on the English Wikipedia and was a member of its Arbitration Committee in 2019–2020. In my behind-the-scenes work I try to focus on preserving good content and encouraging new editors, which has led me to new page patrol, articles for deletion, and dispute resolution.
Off Wikipedia, I'm a computational archaeologist, studing the economy and human ecology of the first farming societies in prehistoric Southwest Asia. My homepage has more information about my off-wiki work.
I have two alternate accounts: Joe Roe (mobile) (talk · contribs) for when I'm travelling and Joe Robot (talk · contribs) for semi-automated edits.
